My acquaintance with Romania took place 3.5 years ago and then I did not think that I would stay in this country for more than a year. But my impressions exceeded my expectations in a positive way.
Romania is a country with an unusually beautiful unique nature and a rich, mystical bloody history. Romania – the cradle of many legends about dragons, Count Dracula, to this day disturbing the imagination of people.
Among the attractive features of Romania: high quality food, developed tourist infrastructure, low building density. Compared with other European countries, real estate prices are quite low. The average cost of living in Romania is one of the lowest compared to other European countries. The prices of most services and products are 50% lower than in Europe.
The second thing that I was pleasantly impressed with over the years in the country is the people living in Romania. I was amazed how positive, kind, always trying to help, reach out in a difficult situation. At the same time, there is no deceit, hypocrisy and double bottom in most of the people who surrounded me during my stay in the country.
The third thing I would like to note is the opportunity not only to work in a new country for me, but also the opportunity to receive additional higher education.
To get a European diploma is more real than many applicants from Russia and the CIS countries believe. Today, most European educational institutions are happy to receive foreign guests, but potential “European” tuition fees often scares off potential students. At the same time, they mainly consider programs in Austria, France, Germany, where not only education, but also the cost of living is more expensive than in the “young” EU member states.
Romania recently entered a new stage of development, having invested a lot of strength in market reforms. As a result, it became a full member of the European community, interested in highly qualified employees. So, among other things, the educational system has undergone a qualitative change. Today, Romanian universities offer affordable European education based on the realities of European business.
And since this country is part of the EU and signed the 1997 Lisbon Convention, its diplomas are quoted throughout the world, and especially in the post-Soviet space.
Often, foreign students are invited to take an annual preparatory course for learning the language at the school itself, where emphasis is placed on improving skills depending on the future direction of study. I was lucky and I also took such a course at Spiru Haret University. I even continued to attend classes in Romanian and after a year of studying I really wanted to master the language perfectly. Moreover, the teachers conducted the lessons very interestingly: using not only teaching materials, but also various video, audio materials, gave practical advice on how to master the language faster and more efficiently, offered prospectuses for visiting various events in Romanian and visiting excursions and attractions. Thus, I can say that I received knowledge not only about the language, but also about the culture of the country in general, which was for me an undoubted additional advantage.

For me, there were no problems and difficulties with documenting the admission process. All the staff at Spiru Haret University, in which I study, were very sympathetic to me and helped in all matters, accompanied at every stage of my studies.
I was lucky to be in this country and I was lucky to meet a lot of wonderful people here!

My name is Ali Habib from Syria, first year in Information Engineering at the Spiru Haret University. When I arrived in Romania, I only knew the Romanian language I had learned from my Romanian wife when we were in Syria. I arrived in Romania in the preparatory year, The Romanian language is very different from the Arabic language because it has a very different root, but I found a lot of crossword or similar words, as in the Syrian dialect. Examples are: ceai, chai, sobă, soba, etc. …) This is an indication of the impact. I live in Bucharest and love my home here as I love my home and my life in Syria.
